Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By installing or using the Mealie Recipe Importer Chrome extension ("the Extension"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, please uninstall the Extension and discontinue use.

2. No Affiliation with Mealie

Mealie Recipe Importer is an independent, third-party tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or in any way officially connected with the Mealie project, mealie-recipes, or any of their maintainers. The Mealie name and logo are the property of their respective owners. Use of the Mealie name herein is solely for descriptive purposes to indicate compatibility.

3. Description of the Service

The Extension provides a convenient interface for extracting structured recipe data from websites you visit and submitting that data to a self-hosted Mealie instance via its publicly documented REST API. The Extension acts solely as a client-side tool operating within your browser.

4. Provided "As-Is"

The Extension is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that:

  • The Extension will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of bugs.
  • Recipe extraction will succeed on every website, as website structures vary and change.
  • The Extension will remain compatible with all future versions of Mealie's API.
  • The Extension will remain compatible with all future versions of Chrome or Chromium-based browsers.

5. User Responsibilities

You are solely responsible for:

  • Your Mealie server – installation, configuration, maintenance, security, backups, and uptime of your self-hosted Mealie instance.
  • Your API token – safeguarding your Mealie API credentials and any actions taken using those credentials.
  • Compliance with third-party terms – ensuring your use of the Extension to extract content from websites complies with those websites' terms of service and applicable copyright law.
  • Data integrity – reviewing imported recipes for accuracy before use.

6. Open Source

Portions of this Extension may be made available as open-source software. Where applicable, the relevant open-source license governs your use of that code. Nothing in these Terms restricts rights granted to you under an applicable open-source license.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Mealie Recipe Importer and its contributors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of recipes, server misconfiguration, or service interruption, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Extension, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

8. Modifications to the Extension and Terms

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Extension at any time without notice. We may also update these Terms at any time. Updated Terms will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Continued use of the Extension after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

9. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
